The work springs from the nexus of my mixed-race heritage, a language of polarised positions, opposites in harmony and hybrid identities. I elaborate engaged factual world views to tackle the personal and incongruous. Exploring territory and narratives beyond given socio-cultural expectations is where I feel most fluent, with a key theme being humanising the marginalised.
My practice weaves an industrial aesthetic with an organic sense of form, classical African art works its instinct into the variety of media, a uniquely modern language.
Currently just completed an 9 minute film work ‘Stay Woke’ and a new sculptural piece in response to the blacklivesmatter movement called ‘Weaponised Concrete’.
